Summer Student Employment Opportunities

The Township of Greater Madawaska is currently inviting students to apply for 2024 summer employment opportunities.

Applications will be accepted until April 4, 2024 by 4:00 p.m. 

Please note that the application form will follow the listing of Summer Student Postions below. Students are able to apply to more than one position of interest. 

Summer Student Employment Opportunities

Public Works Labourer (1 position available) 

Summary: Public Works Labourer will assist the Public Works Staff with a variety of maintenance related duties such as, but not limited to, traffic control, removing debris and litter from right of ways, installing roadway signage, and repairing fences.
Duration:  16 week program - beginning May 6, 2024
Hours of Work:  40 hours per week - Monday to Thursday
Compensation:    $16.55/hour

Facilities Grounds Labourer (1 postion available)

Summary: The ideal candidate will have experience working in the outdoors in all types of weather and performing physical tasks. The Grounds Labourer will assist the Facilities Staff with a variety of maintenance related duties such as, but not limited to, grass cutting and trimming, watering flowers and cleaning exterior of buildings. The candidates will also be required to assist at the Transfer Stations on alternating weekends and on an as needed basis.
Duration: 8 week program - Beginning July 2, 2024
Hours of Work:  40 hours per week, weekend work will be required. 
Compensation:   $16.55/hour

Office Administrator (1 position available)

Summary: The main duties of the Office Administrator will be clerical support (asnwering phones, receipting payments, filing, preparing correspondence ect.) Occasionally they may be asked to support special projects. 
Duration: 8 week program - Beginning July 2, 2024
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Compensation:   $16.55/hour

Recreation Programmer ( 1 position available)

Summary: Working in collaboration with office staff, work to develop and implement summer recreation programming for all areas of the Township of Greater Madawaska. Evenings may be required. 
Duration: 8 week program - Beginning July 2, 2024
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional evenings depending on the recreation program needs. 
Compensation:   $16.55/hour

 

Eiligibilty Requirements

All summer student applicants must meet the following requirements on the first day of employment with the Township of Greater Madawaska.

  • You must be 16 years of age to 30 years of age (with the exception of the Facilities Grounds Labourer which can be a minimum of 15 years of age)
  • You must be enrolled in a secondary or post-secondary program
  • You must be returning to a secondary or post-secondary program on a full-time basis in the fall of 2024.
  • You must have a minimum of a class 'G2' licence and present a clean drivers abstract (with the exception of the Facilities Ground Labourer if only 15 years of age)
  • A satisfactory Criminal Reference Check is required prior to commencement of employment for applicants that are 18 years and older.
